Labor protests next week to demand a 30% wage hike

Santo Domingo.- The labor unions grouped in the CNTD on Monday announced marches and pickets in 20 provinces tomorrow Wednesday to demand a 30% wage increase .

CNTD president Jacobo Ramos said starting Wednesday morning the protests are planned for Santiago, Espaillat, Samaná, San Juan de la Maguana, Azua, San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana, La Altagracia and Santo Domingo.

In a press conference the union leader said workers will occupy the main streets of the provincial capitals to demand a 30% wage increase for government and private sector employees.

Meeting

The Labor Ministry’s National Salary Committee (CNS) is slated to meet Tuesday, April 21, when management should disclose its proposed increase to the minimum wage.
