Record-breaking temperatures continue

Santo Domingo.- The National Weather Office (Onamet) forecasts mostly sunny skies and higher than normal temperatures, as the result of the prevailing southeast wind and dust from the Sahara.

It said record high temperatures as high as 40C degrees will continue for the entire country, especially the southeast, northwest, and border area.

Onamet said the high temperatures will continue during the next three days, especially for Santiago Rodriguez, Valverde, Monte Cristi, Dajabón and Elías Piña provinces.

“The weather station at Altamira, Puerto Plata reported a new record with the maximum temperature of 37.5°C yesterday, surpassing by one degree the previous record of 36.5°C set April 17, 1963.”
