Outspoken priests to protest impunity at Supreme Court

Santiago.- Several of the country’s most outspoken priests on Wednesday announced a prayer vigil against impunity in front of the Supreme Court, where they expect participants from all north region provinces.

The priest Nino Ramos said his colleagues will head the gathering starting 10am on May 18 and called on Christians of all faiths to come and support their protest.

He invited all of the country’s priests, in their church garb, to attend the vigil against the country’s many injustices. "We hope the presence of priests, the faithful of the dioceses across the country and all provinces, from Montecristi and Dajabón to Higuey, from Pedenales to Samana, so there’s representation from each area."

The priests organizing the event also include Ramón Alejo de la Cruz, Regino Martinez, Martin Luzon, Leonardo Adames, Gilberto Quezada, Ramon Abreu, among others.

They ask the priests to wear religious symbols such as crosses and make signs, banners and anything which shows the country and the world that "Christians disagree with the things that happen in this nation."
