US, local agents investigate drugs found in 3 airlines at Kennedy

Santo Domingo.- US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Dominican Antinarcotics (DNCD) agents investigate how drugs found in three commercial aircraft at New York’s Kennedy Airport last weekend got past the various controls at Las Americas Airport.

The investigation launched May 8 also involves the Dominican National Department of Investigations (DNI) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and comes after 24 pounds of heroin and cocaine were found in a Delta Airlines plane, which took off from Las Americas to New York

Two days after that case, local media report that 10 federal agents also found five packages of cocaine hidden in a bathroom of another aircraft of the same airline that had taken off from Las Americas.

More drugs were also recently seized at Kennedy aboard a commercial flight of another airline that took off from Las Americas, whose amount has yet to be disclosed.

Outlet listin.com.do reports that employees and some airline executives at Las Americas Airport have been interviewed in the last few hours in connection with the drug case in the US.
