Government denies attempted poisoning of the President

Santo Domingo.- The government on Monday denied the rumor of an attempted poisoning of president Danilo Medina, calling it a totally false version that is untrue.

"I officially categorically and absolutely deny that such a thing happened. The president has never suffered any attempt on his life or intention of poisoning," Roberto Rodriguez told reporters in the National Palace.

A lawyer allegedly started the rumor in a radio program where he said unnamed people tried to poison the head of state. "I want to give assurance to the Dominican people that such information that circulated in the morning are totally false.”
