Justice Ministry sets its sights on contract killers

Santo Domingo.- The Justice Ministry will review all the old cases of contract killings which have gone unpunished, for which prosecutors across the country were ordered to inventory them and resume the investigation.

Justice minister Francisco Dominguez made the announcement Thursday and said further measures will be taken to “eliminate pockets where the most murders occur,” usually discos and night clubs.

He said the Justice Ministry’s priority is to measure the impunity rate in murder cases, “because when we fail to punish killers, those bands continue operating and the homicide rate continues to rise.”
