Top prosecutor vows due diligence in lawmakers bribes scandal

Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Francisco Dominguez on Wednesday warned he won’t be manipulated in the case of alleged payoffs to lawmakers to pass the constitutional reform which restores reelection.

He said the complaint filed by the opposition party (PRM) has no evidence or details on the alleged bribes and that the prosecution will carry out due diligence. "I won’t let anybody manipulate me and use this situation to make noise, because this isn’t a game."

Dominguez said the alliance between the ruling PLD and opposition PRD parties has fueled speculating that the prosecution won’t conduct an investigation into the alleged bribes.
