Aspirations of five candidates carried away by reelection

Santo Domingo.– President Danilo Medina took a political decision that few believed was going to change so drastically the country’s electoral scenery, which was very different until the meeting of the Political Committee of the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) last 19 April, Diario Libre reported today.

The aspirations of five candidates have been carried away by the "hurricane" of the reelection, the paper published. Former President Leonel Fernandez, Reinaldo Pared Perez, Francisco Javier Garcia, Temistocles Montas and Radhames Segura have been removed from the battle.

According to DL, the pacts that are coming together on the political horizon reveal that the reelection also silenced the presidential intentions of Miguel Vargas, for the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), and might do the same with the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC).
