Opposition candidate says PLD is a failed economic model

Santo Domingo.– Opposition PRM party candidate Luis Abinader described the PLD governments as a failed economic and social model with misplaced priorities, Listin Diario reported yesterday.

During the ceremony where he was proclaimed his party’s presidential candidate, held at the Palacio de los Deportes in Santo Domingo, Abinader pointed out that in the period between January 2013 and May 2015 alone, the government spent a staggering RD$7.24 billion on advertising.

In his speech, where he launched his "Victory 16" campaign, he said that President Danilo Medina had secured the constitutional amendment through a pact that guarantees the rule of corruption and impunity. He stated that the PLD made a pact with opposition PRD and PRSC legislators in return for the votes needed for passing the reelection clause.
