Taiwan aid reaffirms close ties with Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s Congress on Monday recognized Taiwan president Ma Ying-jeou for his country’s contributions, and celebrated his 65th birthday with his third visit to the Caribbean nation.

Ma stressed Taiwan’s donations to the Dominican people as well as the close ties between both countries.

Among the donations the Asian leader cited figure motorcycles and ambulances for the National Emergency System 911, which have been used in emergencies, accident prevention and public safety.

He said Taiwan will continue to cooperate with the various government agencies for the constructions of facilities nationwide.

Ma, in his speech before Congress, quoted the words of Dominican founding father Juan Pablo Duarte, "Let’s work for our nation, which is working for our children and for ourselves."
