Officials mull mandatory booze permits to deal with noise complaints

Santo Domingo.- To deal with the frequent complaints ofnoise in Greater Santo Domingo, law enforcement, prosecutors, municipal and environmentalauthorities will launch a pilot project with the National Emergency System 9-1-1.

Santo Domingo East mayor Juan de los Santos said a protocolto regulate businesses that sell alcoholic beverages is being created. "We’vealso spoken about a possible license for such businesses because they’re oftencreated and have appropriate permit, so the municipalities also have to play theirrole in that part."

In a National Palace meeting to discuss the protocol participatedPresidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo, Justice minister FranciscoDominguez, National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso, National Policechief Manuel Castro, Environment minister Bautista Rojas and representatives fromthe National District City Council.
