Copter makes emergency landing in La Romana cane field

Santo Domingo.– The helicopter carrying Customs director Fernando Fernandez and two other officials from that institution, made an emergency landing Friday afternoon in a cane field near La Romana city.

The Customs director was returning from a meeting with executives of a convention center in Punta Cana, where he had gone to coordinate the possibility of holding an international meeting of the Policy Commission of the World Customs Organization (WCO), to be held later this year in the Dominican Republic.

Despite the significant malfunction of one of the helicopter’s engines, and the improvised landing, no one was injured. Due to the severity of the damage, the four-seat airship had to be left in the same place where it landed.
