Customs destroys RD$476.3M in bootleg booze, goods

Santo Domingo.- The CustomsAgency (DGA) on Thursday destroyed bootleg alcohol and goods worth around RD$476.3 million, its sixth operationthis year.

Among the destroyed boozefigure 315,196 cases of wine and vodka worth around RD$759.7 million; 16,000 bottlesof perfume estimated at RD $131.8 million.

Also destroyed were twoboxes of belt buckles worth around RD$131.2 million and various other goodswith an estaimated of RD$305.8 million.

Customs adviser GregorioLora said the operations aim to protect the legal businesses and representativesof certified brands.
