New Police chief talks tough against crime

Santo Domingo.- Thenew National Police chief Nelson Peguero on Tuesday vowed to combat organized crime and street crimes with an iron fist “wherever the criminalschoose.”

Speaking after beingsworn by Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo, Peguero said he won’t let policeofficers mistreat citizens under any circumstances.

He also warned thathe won’t allow any citizen to confront the police. "We will not accept ourauthority be placed in question."
