Dominican agents nab 1,400K cocaine with DEA´s help

Santo Domingo -The NationalDrugs Control Agency (DNCD) on Friday said it seized 700 packages of cocaine Fridaymorning transported by three men on a speedboat at La Cienega beach in Barahona(southwest), from the port at La Guajira, between Colombia and Venezuela.

It said he confiscationof the drug, distributed in 28 bales of 25 bricks (each brick is 2 kilos) eachwas made possible by an alert of the boat from US DEA agency to Dominicanauthorities.

Only the three men, aDominican, a Colombian, and a Venezuelan, only the latter was detained, whosename wasn’t disclosed.

The DJCD said the Colombianand Dominican escaped with the help of villagers of Barahona, who tried tostorm the boat stopped once ashore.

The DNCD said the pursuitbegan at dawn and concluded with its interdiction at 9am.
