Health authorities strengthen dengue prevention in northern region

Santo Domingo.– Public Healthauthorities on Friday intervened several sectors and public schools in theprovinces of Santiago, Valverde, Santiago Rodriguez and Dajabon in an effort tostrengthen dengue prevention.

According to El Nuevo Diario, the increase in cases of dengue in the northern region concerns doctors and the health authorities.

Three days ago Wifer Inoa Blanco, a resident in the community of Carbonera in Montecristi, died allegedly after being diagnosed with dengue hemorrhagic fever. The teenager died in a health center in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros.

Public Health director in Dajabon Fiordaliza Caridad Ceballo told local reporters they were waiting for the lab results to determine the teenager’s real cause of death.
