Extradition sought for 12 in RD$1.4B Peravia bank fraud

Santo Domingo.- NationalDistrict prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso on Wednesday said 12 people wererequested in extradition in connection to the of more than RD$1.4 billion fraudin the failed bank Banco Peravia.

She said the Peraviacase investigation is advancing and that she will reveal the names on theextradition orders.

The bank´s two topexecutives managed to leave the country and were declared fugitives.

Speaking to reportersReynoso said the investigation into the alleged scam also uncovered “serious”links to State Works Supervisory Engineers Office (OISOE) former director MiguelPimentel Kareh, "in various ways which I reiterate, I’d rather not give detailat this time."
