Colonel in flap with general committed serious offenses: Police chief

Santo Domingo.- NationalPolice chief Nelson Peguero n Wed. said among the 10 alleged acts of misconductby Col. Radhames Santos figure the pocketing of the salaries of severalpolicemen.

"That colonelhas 10 disciplinary offenses, aside from obtaining the salary of a policemanand demanding more money, which is a disgrace to the police force," Peguerosaid, but didn’t specify how Santos obtained the wages of his subordinates.

After confirming noonWed. that the Police Council recommended the forced retirement of the seniorofficer, Peguero said the measure was taken in the wake of an Internal Affairs investigation.

During a meeting withthe police chief Justice minister Francisco Dominguez also addressed the issue,and said as a member of the Police Council he supports its decision.
