Icon Dominican newspaperman dies at 87

Santo Domingo.- VirgilioRadhames Gomez Pepin, one of Dominican Republic´s icon newspapereditor-in-chief died today Monday at 87.

Known as a masterteacher of journalists, Gomez co-founded the leading evening paper El Nacional in1966, and had been its editor-in-chief since September 1988.

The veteran journalistpassed away early Monday at the CEDIMAT Medical Center.

Gomez, who startedhis career in his native Santiago in 1927, is survived by his wife CorneliaMargarita, and children Radhames Virgilio, Ramon Euclides, Cesar Rafael, AnaPatricia, Laura and Orlando .
