US yanks visa of beleaguered Senator, top journalist says

Santo Domingo.- The US Dept.State canceled senator Felix Bautista´d Americanvisa, investigative journalist Nuria Piera, director of NCDN television,revealed Thursday.

"Last Friday senatorFelix Bautista received the news that his visa to the United States was suspended,"Piera tweeted.

Senator Bautista (PLD-SanJuan de la Maguana) was charged with embezzlement during his tenure at the StateWorks Supervising Engineers Office (OISOE), an agency fraught with scandal.

On March 27 however SupremeCourt justice Alejandro Moscoso ruled to acquit the lawmaker of corruption charges.

The Supreme Court 2ndCriminal Chamber, last week refused to hear the prosecution´s appeal in thecase against Bautista and six codefendants accused of money laundering,conspiracy, forgery and other felonies.
