US envoy calls Dominican mayor´s murder horrific

Santo Domingo.- Horrificis what US ambassador James W. Brewster called the Tuesday noon shooting deathof Santo Domingo Este mayor Juan de los Santos.

He said the DominicanRepublic is experiencing a very sad day for the death at the hands of a CityCouncil contractor over an alleged debt.

The diplomat said delos Santos was a friendly and professional man, for whom he´ll pray for him andfor his family as well as for the two others who were killed.

According to reportsthe shooter Luis Feliz had a dispute over a debt with de los Santos that led tothe tragedy in which the mayor´s bodyguard, Archie de Jesus Medina was alsoshot down.
