Powerful politico’s son off to prison on forgery
Santo Domingo.- A Santo Domingo province judge on Monday sentPedro Jose Gutierrez Nova to one year of pretrial detention on charges of forgery and weapons trafficking.
The accused, a son of Insurance superintendent and rulingPLD party co-founder Euclides Gutiérrez, was send to La Victoria prison by PermanentAttention judge José Gregorio Bautista.
The authorities accuse Gutierrez Nova of forging thesignature of Interior and Police minister Jose Ramon Fadul.
Gutierrez Nova, who said he’s innocent of these charges,ran a “military academy” and allegedly issued military “ranks” including thatof a “general” officer.
Gutierrez Felix, a powerful and outspoken member of thePLD, has yet to comment on his son’s case.
