Santo Domingo.- Drugs Council president Fidias Aristy said that the drug prevention programs developed by the CND have positively affected over 2.8 million young people and have trained 3,500 counselors and psychologists from the Education Ministry nationwide.

Aristy said the CND develops four programs that are key in drug prevention, and mentioned that one is intended for community action, another for training in the workplace, another for prevention in sports and the fourth program has to do with education,

"This is the model followed in most countries regarding drug prevention," he pointed out and said there are more than 90 rehabilitation centers in the Dominican Republic, all of them owned by private organizations except one center owned by the State which was opened by President Danilo Medina last year.
