US Coast Guard lauds Dominican antinarcotics agency

Santo Domingo.- US Coast Guard Caribbean region commander ScottBuschman on Thursday lauded the fight against drug trafficking and organizedcrime headed by National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) president Julio CesarSouffront

"During my 30 years of military service I am happy tobe in this institution sharing experiences and jointly enhancing the efforts inthe fight against international drug trafficking," said the senior US officerduring a visit to the DNCD.

He congratulated the head of the DNCD for the recent drug confiscations,including a shipment of nearly one ton of cocaine and heroin on a ship seizedin Dominican territorial waters, with seven Hondurans arrested, among other operations.

Buschman said the successes have motivated him to work withthe DNCD, which he affirms will improve in the future with common goals.

For his part Souffront thanked the US Coast Guard officeron behalf of his DNCD staff.
