Dominican auxiliary envoy to UN to plead guilty of bribery

New York.- Dominican-American Francis Lorenzo, indicted inthe bribery case of the UN, on Wednesday will plead guilty to the charges, his attorneysaid on Monday.

Brian Bieber said Lorenzo, suspended as Dominican Republic’salternate ambassador to the UN, will plead guilty to charges of conspiracy tocommit bribery, conspiracy to commit money laundering and filing a false taxreturn.

The guilty plea comes in the heels of the arrest of a UNGeneral Assembly former president and a Chinese billionaire.

Bieber said his client decided to plead guilty afterreviewing State evidence, noting that it led him to "accept responsibilityfor his involvement in criminal conspiracies committed by him and hisco-defendants."
