Strict security as truckers’ union leader to be arraigned on murder

Santo Domingo.- Heightened securityhas been established at the National District Courthouse prior to a hearing on Mondaywhen the prosecution will motion for one year of pretrial detention against truckersunion leader Blas Peralta.

Judge Alejandro Vargas will hearthe indictment against Peralta, charged with gunning down prominent academicianMateo Aquino Febrillet last Friday.

Meanwhile Franklin Garcia Fermin,who preceded Aquino as dean of the Santo Domingo State University (UASD), appearedat the courthouse as a representative of the institution.

He said the UASD will provide allmaterial and legal support to his late colleague’s relatives.
