Over 200 Dominican beaches closed for Easter Week

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) have closed down over 200 bathing spots that are considered dangerous, to prevent the public from using them during the Easter Week break.

The province where most beaches and rivers were declared closed is the eastern province of San Pedro de Macorís, with 22 such closures, followed by Greater Santo Domingo with 20 and Peravia with 16.

COE director Juan Manuel Mendez also announced that over 42,100 agents are ready to start the safety operation for the Easter break. Among the leading causes of death during Holy Week are traffic accidents, alcohol overdose and drowning.
