Catholic priests want corrupt politicians punished at the ballot box

Santo Domingo.- During the Good Friday sermons Catholic priestsnationwide asked the Dominican people to punish with their vote in the May 15 electionsthe candidates for elected posts who use politics to become wealthy.

"Father forgive them, for they know not what theydo," said the priest Angel Sanchez, who affirmed that the a political contestwhere candidates "take out their opponents’ dirty laundry" is repulsivefor the people.

"I don’t think the response of the people at the pollswill be forgiveness, but punishment vote instead," Sanchez said at themass held in the Cathedral of America.

In the same service the deacon Pedro Ramirez called on Christiansand society in general not only to be scandalized with the embezzlement of taxpayers’money, but also for the corruption of conscience, denouncing everything that ismorally offensive.
