Interpol was after Venezuelans nabbed with 359k of drug

Santo Domingo.- Thefive Venezuelans arrested in La Romana charged with smuggling 359 kilos of cocainethrough the La Romana Airport, were sought by Interpol, convicted of drugtrafficking and racketeering in their country.

Jean Carlos Diaz Polanco, 32; Luis Justiniano Carlos Nuñez,55; Jorge Luis Henriquez Villalba, 43; Gerardo Antonio Diaz Barroso, 37, andGregory Jose Frias Ulbina, 23, are wanted in Venezuela to a serve out their sentence for drug trafficking andconspiracy.

They were arrested last week by antinarcotics (DNCD) and NationalInvestigations Dept. (DNI) agents.

Four of them allegedly brought the drug in an aircraft fromBarquisimeto, Venezuela, whereas the fifth was the vehicle’s driver.

Judge challenged

The group’s lawyers on Thursday recused Instruction court judgeIsmael Nehemia Ramirez, in charge of reviewing a previous ruling to releasedthe foreigners’ outright.

The case will now be transferred to the Court of Appeals ofSan Pedro de Macorix.
