Dominican tourism pillar: Punta Cana: 36,000+ rooms; 3.0M+ tourists
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- Punta Cana’s 64 hotels andmore than 36,000 rooms make it a pillar for Dominican Republic’s tourism, andis more than Puerto Rico and Jamaica combined.
Puntacana Group president Frank Rianieri on Sunday said investorscontinue to express confidence in the region, which now boasts some 4,000additional rooms under construction, totaling more than 40,000 by December 2017.
The tourism mogul spoke to hundreds of journalists and mediabusiness leaders gathered for the Inter-American Press Association’s MidyearMeeting, held at the Westin Hotel Resort & Club in Punta Cana.
In his "The Realization of a Dream," Rainieri tellsthe story of the destination’s development from its origins to the tourism leaderit is today.
He stressed that added to the impressive figures, the areahas 12 golf courses including three in the Group’s hotels. “This fact makesPunta Cana the best golf destination in the Caribbean.”

Rainieri added that Punta Cana International Airportreceived 3.25 million foreign tourists in 2015, or 68% of the total visitorsarriving in the country.
