Dominican rescuers off to Ecuador to find quake victims(Update)

Santo Domingo.- The Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said Dominican national Miguel Payano, 49 was among the fatal victims.

FILE. The Dominican Government will send a groupof rescuers to Ecuador to provide assistance after the earthquake which killed 413people.

Civil Defense director Rafael de Luna said 53 search-and-rescuepersonnel and six trained dogs will be heading to the South American nation tofind survivors.

He said the group is slated to depart Tuesday afternoon towardthe Ecuador city of Manta.

Speaking at the Civil Defense workshop "Communication:relevant risk management tool," the official said the Dominican andEcuador Foreign ministries coordinated the mission.
