Dominicans mark Labor Day with a long weekend

Santo Domingo.- Today, the Monday that falls closest to May 1st, is a national holiday in the Dominican Republic, marking Labor Day.

Though Labor Day was yesterday, the actual celebration was rolled over for today to create the long weekend.

All schools and government and professional offices are closed while commerce has a limited schedule.
