63,000 officers to ensure safety on election day

Santo Domingo.- The Electoral Military Police (PME) head Eduardo Manin Liberato said Friday that 63,000 military and National Police officers will keep order, ensure the safety of voters in the May 15 election and transport and safeguard all equipment and material to be used in the 16,000 polling stations nationwide.

Liberato also said he received direct instructions from the Central Electoral Board (JCE) president Roberto Rosario who urged the police and the military to be extremely tolerant towards citizens at the ballot box.

The PME head pointed out he is working in coordination with 40 generals of the armed forces, so that voters have complete peace of mind when going to the polling stations.
