Former U.S. ambassador Julissa Reynoso endorses Espaillat for Congress

New York, NY – Today, former United States Ambassador toUruguay Julissa Reynoso announced her support for Adriano Espaillat in thecampaign for Congress in the 13th District. Ambassador Reynoso, who served inthat role from March 2012 to December 2014, touted Espaillat’s understanding ofchallenges at home and abroad.

In addition to Ambassador Reynoso’s support, SenatorEspaillat has recently won the endorsements of City Council Speaker MelissaMark-Viverito, Bronx State Senator Gustavo Rivera, Bronx State Assemblymen LuisSepúlveda and Victor Pichardo, the Council of School Supervisors andAdministrators, and TWU Local 100.

“I proudly endorse Adriano Espaillat because of his deepunderstanding of issues abroad and his long time service to diverse communitiesat home,” said former Ambassador Julissa Reynoso. “Adriano knows well howchallenges around the world impact us here in our own neighborhoods. I know wecan count on him to be a thoughtful and steady voice in Washington. At thiscritical moment, now is the time to send Adriano to Congress.”

In accepting Ambassador Reynoso’s endorsement, SenatorEspaillat said, “I couldn’t be prouder to have the support of AmbassadorReynoso, who is a foreign policy leader and pillar in our community. Julissaunderstands how international and domestic issues can intersect, and that weneed a leader ready to represent a diverse community in Congress.
