John Kerry to attend OAS meeting in the Dominican Republic: Report

Santo Domingo.- United States Secretary of State, JohnKerry, has confirmed his participation in the Organization of American States(OAS) General Assembly to be held in theDominican Republic from Monday until Wednesday, eldia.com.do reports..

The day when Washington’s top diplomat will arrive hasn’t beendisclosed, although it’s expected to be before the start of the annual meeting.

Kerry is among the first 20 foreign ministers to confirmtheir participation in the OAS 46th annual assembly, in which theregion’s issues and the entity’s own future will be discussed.

It is Kerry’s first visit to the Caribbean country and willparticipate in a conclave where the Venezuelan crisis will likely be discussed,while Caracas accuses Washington of seeking to destabilize president NicolasMaduro’s government.

Security

Dominican Republic’s National Investigations Dept. (DNI)has been put in charge the General Assembly’s security and of the events at thesidelines starting Monday.
