All eyes on Dominican Republic for hosting 46th OAS General Assembly

Santo Domingo.- Under an atmosphere of protest and the announcement from opposition parties to denounce alleged irregularities in the recent general elections, the country will host from Monday the 46th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).

According to Foreign minister Andres Navarro, about 20 foreign ministers are expected to attend, and among them are Pierrot Delienne (Haiti), Claudia Ruiz Massieu (Mexico), Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar (Colombia), Guillaume Long (Ecuador), David Choquehuanca (Bolivia), and US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Regarding the peaceful protest outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), scheduled for 3:00 pm on Sunday, Navarro said "it must be seen as something normal" that happens in other cities like Brussels or New York when international events are held.
