Pope names new Dominican Republic Cardinal

Vatican City (CNA).- Pope Francis has accepted theresignation of Dominican Republic cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez,according to Canonic Law that sets the age limit at 75, and has appointed asuccessor.

The new cardinal and Santo Domingo Archbishop is FranciscoOzoria Acosta, who was bishop of the San Pedro de Macoris diocese.

Ozoria was born October 10, 1951 in Nagua, Maria TrinidadSanchez province (northeast). He holds a media degree from the St. Pius XSeminar, in Licey al Medio, central Santiago province.
