Dominican parties seek to approve Political Parties Law

Santo Domingo.- The first meeting to reach consensus on the draft resolutions on Political Parties and Electoral Guarantees will be held at the PUCMM Pontifical University on Monday.

According to El Nuevo Diario, this university is the headquarters of the Economic and Social Council, which has always been coordinated catholic bishop Agripino Nuñez Collado.

Former Dominican VP, and commission coordinator, Rafael Alburquerque, said there is already a draft of the Electoral Law but by now they are focusing on the political Parties Law.

The meeting will be attended by representatives of the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Christian Social Reformist Party (PRSC) and the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD).
