As deadline looms 3,329 officials have yet to file financial statement

Santo Domingo.- As of July 19 as many as 3,329 officials haveyet to submit their financial statement to the Accounts Chamber, or 53.5% of allthose required to do so by law, as the 90-day deadline starting Aug. 16 looms.

PUCMM University provided the information from a studyconducted by its new research area through the “Program for Studies of DominicanDevelopment (PEDD).

The study found that only 37% of the officials (2,295) havecomplied with the requirement, said PEDD coordinator Fernando Ferrán.

Among those who’ve yet to submit their statement figure 2,065officials in the Accounts Chamber list of public servants not included in the previouslaw, but do so under Law 311-14 in effect since 2014.

The punishment for violators range from public reprimandfor serious misconduct, fines and incarceration for submitting falseinformation and confiscation of property, according to Ferrán.
