Canadian scammed out of nearly US$7M wants Medina’s help

Santo Domingo.- Canadian investor Raul Boisse on Sunday askedpresident Danilo Medina and Supreme Court chief justice Mariano Germán, to orderan investigation into why the courts of Higüey fail to proceed with his accusationthat he was scammed out of millions of dollars when buying land in Sabana de laMar, Hato Mayor province (east).

The Canadian businessman said Dominican justice has beenvery flexible with those who scammed him by resorting to a series of ruses and schemesin the deal.

"These criminals have taken advantage of some influenceto bring down a tourism project I intended to build on that site for which was destinedto invest RD$150 million (US$6.9 million) with other Canadian partners, intendingto build a tourism project for the country, with nearly 1,000 direct jobs for theDominican brothers," Boisse said.
