Dominican trade & logistics mission headed to Atlanta, Savannah

Santo Domingo..- The American Chamber of Commerce of theDominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) on Wednesday announced it will host a TradeFacilitation and Logistics Mission, from Oct. 16 to 20, in Atlanta, Georgia.

“Within the framework of the strategic guidelines ofAMCHAMDR to promote policies and practices that improve competitiveness, it hascoordinated this mission to the city of Atlanta, considered the Southeastern UStransport Super Hub," so participants can learn about efficient logisticsand cargo handling models, processes and customs management, sharing theexperience of the port of Savannah, GA at the technical and operational levelin transport and logistics, as well as getting to know global trends in trade,transportation and logistics,” the entity said in an emailed statement.

It said the agenda includes a visit to port at Savannah andAtlanta International Airport, North America’s second busiest terminal inpassenger volume and operations and meetings with key US agencies involved inimport (Customs and Border Control, FDA, APHIS, among others).

“The delegation will visit distribution centers, a multinationallogistics operator company, trucking company, among other facilities. They willalso visit the Georgia Institute of Technology campus, the most recognized institutionworldwide for its research and development of logistics,” the AMCHAMDR said.

This mission is aimed at import and export companies, freezones, customs agencies, shipping companies, freight forwarders, couriers andothers in the sector, with the collaboration of strategic partners such as theUS Embassy in the Dominican Republic, in particular with the Foreign CommercialService (FCS) and the Georgia Dept. of Economic Development and Delta Comercial.
