NYC Public Advocate endorses Dominican-born Alcantara for State Senate

New York.- New York City Public Advocate Letitia ‘Tish" James on Thursdayannounced her endorsement for Dominican-born Marisol Alcantara in the StateSenate’s District 31st Democratic primary.

"When it comes to expand affordable housing programsand support our working families, Marisol Alcantara has the vision to do thejob," James said.

"Frankly, it’s terrible that there are no Hispanicscurrently in the State Senate. Marisol will remedy that imbalance, whilefighting strongly to empower New York workers," James said.

Alcantara, meanwhile, said "the public defenderLetitia James is a pioneer and an example to follow someone on how to make adifference in the lives of New Yorkers. I look forward to working with theombudsman, to address critical issues such as housing and education for ourchildren and families."

Alcantara has already been endorsed by state senator andDemocratic candidate for Congress, Adriano Espaillat; Bronx Borough PresidentRuben Diaz Jr.; former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer; CouncilmanYdanis Rodriguez; Hotels Council of Workers (HTC), Councilman Ritchie Torres; theTransit Workers Union (Local 100), UNITE HERE Local 100, the New York State NursesAssociation, among others.
