Agents raid office of deputy ‘smuggled’ assault rifles

San Pedro, DominicanRepublic.- The office of minority party deputyNestor Muñoz was raided Wed. afternoon by members of the military accompaniedby prosecutors, local media report.

At around 4:25pm DefenseMinistry Intelligence agents searched and seized documents in the servicestation Macorix Gas in San Pedro (east), owned by the lawmaker of the PRSCparty, who’s been linked to the smuggling of assault rifles through HainaOriental port in Sept.

Last week SupremeCourt chief justice Mariano Germán assigned judge Juan Hirohito Reyes to hear thecase against Muñoz, who has stated his innocence and willingness to beinvestigated.
