Respected jurist leapfrogs to the top of be Electoral Board

Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board willbe headed by Julio César Castaños Guzmán,whom despite being a respected attorney, wasn’t even evaluated by the Senate commissionto occupy the key post.

In addition to Castaños the JCE officialswill be Roberto Saladín, Henry Mejía, Freddy Bolivar Agramonte and CarmenImbert Brugal.

The Bloc of Opposition Parties on Wednesday rejectedCastaños’s designation, calling most of them "political activists of theofficial party."

They said Dialogue Table coordinator monsignorAgripino Núñez had informed them the decision on the new members of the JCE.

Julio Cesar Castaños and Roberto Saladín, "wouldbe a minority hostage of partisans and loyalists of the official party ofDanilo Medina."

Castaños was president of the JCE from 2006 to 2010.
