Hundreds of mototaxis stage surprise protest at Palace

Santo Domingo.- Hundreds of mototaxi (motoconcho) drivers on Thursday staged a surprise protest in front of the National Palace, where they demanded that the police stop impounding their “source of work.”

They said if their demand isn’t met in 15 days they’ll return with all their motorcycles to National Police headquarters.

The mototaxis complain of having to pay money to retrieve their bikes and demand a halt to the arrests they say take place in the various sectors, despite having all their papers in order, the helmet and the ID vest.
