Government agencies deploy crews to prevent accidents

Santo Domingo.-Several government agencies on Monday began operations to prevent accidents during Holy Week, with calls for moderation to the population, especially for motorists to avoid speeding and alcohol consumption behind the wheel.

Although the Emergency Operations Center’s (COE) official actions starts noon Thursday, the measures announced yesterday individually include the ban on heavy vehicles and preparations in hospitals to assist travelers during emergencies.

The Interior and Police Ministry report preventive actions in which  351 people will be providing assistance and guidance on the main roads and beaches in the country.

In a statement, Interior and Police said its crews will be stationed in beaches and swimming sports at Higüero; Santo Domingo Norte; on the Yamasá highway, Boca Chica, Palenque; San Cristobal; Juan Dolio; San Pedro de Macoris; Baní and Salinas in the province of Peravia; Los Patos, in Barahona, among others
