Espaillat hails Rolando T. Acosta’s appointment to Appellate Div.

Washington DC. – U.S. congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) on Monday hailed the appointment of Dominican-born Rolando T. Acosta, by New York governor Andrew Cuomo, as Presiding Justice of the First Department-Appellate Division.

“I commend Governor Cuomo on the appointment of Justice Rolando T. Acosta to serve as the Presiding Justice of the First Department-Appellate Division and for recognizing his merit as a well-respected jurist among one of the preeminent state appellate courts in the nation,” Espaillat said in an emailed statement.

“Justice Acosta is highly regarded within the New York legal community and has developed a distinguished career within New York’s judicial system,” said the also Dominican-born lawmaker.

Espaillat added that Acosta “embodies the most important qualities we look for in a judge and has a deep appreciation for the rule of law.  Justice Acosta’s reputation as one of the most prominent judges in New York State is well-deserved as he has worked tirelessly to enhance the legal profession for all participants.”
