Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Health has dismantled an illegal laboratory where medicines were being manufactured in the Los Ríos neighborhood in the National District.

The raid took place over the weekend as part of a joint operation between the Specialized Prosecutor for Crimes and Misdemeanors against Health and the National Police Central Criminal Investigations Agency (DICRIM).

Ten people who were manufacturing falsified medicines for the Los Ríos-based Solupharma Dominicana were arrested in the raid.

The products violate the established regulations because they are not registered with the health authorities.

The items confiscated included Altran 800 mg, Amoxicillin, Diclofenac and other common medicines, as well as raw materials and machines used in their production.

The Public Health authorities warned manufacturers, importers and retailers of medication that they must formalize their activities and work in a context of quality, good manufacturing practices and formal trading, “as the health authorities are focused on implementing Law 42-01 to guarantee that the public has access to quality, safe products that are fit for human consumption.”
