Police arrest man for robbery, attempted rape of Canadians

Santo Domingo.- The National Police arrested a man in Boca Chica on Sunday, accused of robbing two Canadian women and attempting to rape one of them.

A press release from the police named the suspect as Yohsua Rafael Álvarez Ortega, 29, the administrator of the apartment-hotel where the two women were staying.

The women, aged 50 and 44, whose names have not been disclosed to protect their privacy, identified the suspect as the man who entered their apartment and robbed 175 Canadian dollars and 150 US dollars. One of them also suffered a sexual assault, said the police.

The police investigations continue.
