Service station morass: 80% operate with expired permits

Santo Domingo.- The Industry and Commerce Ministry on Sat. urged service station operators  to immediately renew their license and operating permits, 80% of which have expired.

Agency representatives have spoken about the issue separately with the distributors of propane gas, diesel and gasoline, after detecting 2,134 stations with expired operating permits, of the country’s total of 2,668.

Of that amount, 1,304 to gasoline and diesel, and 1,364 are propane, according to the agency’s Hydrocarbons director, Ramón Cruz Plasencia, quoted by eldia.com.do.

He said a deadline for compliance with the process wasn’t issued, but warned that they must do so “in a prudent time.”

“Operators who fail to comply with the procedures could result in the sanctions stipulated in Law 37-17,” warned agency communications director Manuel Jiménez.
